When considering an enterprise automation solution, there are numerous
requirements and issues which need to be managed. If a product does
not have any of the following features, is it right for your critical
environment?
Visibility and Control
The ability to see, start, stop and pause a running job, the ability to
suspend, restart or remove jobs from the run queue are fundamental
to job control in modern day scheduling environments.
Advanced Control
The ability to schedule jobs across multiple timezones, complex job
dependency and the ability to automatically re-start on failure, or
provide the capability to selectively re-run specific elements of a batch
are sophisticated requirements that an enterprise environment can not be without.
Network Job Monitoring
Today's operational environment typically has dozens, if not hundereds,
of systems running independently and/or in unison. The ability to see the
whole network quickly, at a glance, is critical.
Scalability and Itnegration
Any solution proposed for modern day operations environments needs to be able
to scale and grow with the environment. Hand in hand with scalability is
integration. If a job scheduling solution can not integrate into an environment
quickly and cheaply; the solution reduces the effectiveness of the operations centre.
